Many tourists come to San Diego hoping to spend time on the beach, expecting clear skies and perfect temperatures, however this winter break they were greeted with rain, putting a dampener on countless vacations. Many tourists express dissatisfaction over the recent rainfall preventing them from spending their vacations the way they intended. In addition to the flooding and cloudy skies, the water runoff caused by the rain, which carries various chemicals and contaminants as it passes through the streets and neighborhoods, is disrupting people’s vacations as it drains into the oceans, making them unfit to swim in for up to 72 hours after the rain ends. While most tourists are upset that the rain has gotten in the way of their plans, some consider the rain to be important for sustaining the natural wildlife and preventing drought, due to a lack of rain contributing to California's recent droughts and wildfires. Despite this fact, nearly everybody agrees that the flooding damage and harmful water runoff are a problem for San Diego, and many are hoping that the rain and the challenges that come with it will end as soon as possible.
