The City of Del Mar recently passed a new rule that adds restrictions to digging holes on the beach. The new rule prohibits digging holes deeper than 2ft and burying people. All holes have to be supervised and when you finish digging the hole, you need to fill it in before you leave. Fines can be received if the rules are broken. The new rule has sparked controversy among beachgoers. Many say the rule will make the beach less fun for families. While many locals aren't too happy with the new rule, this could also affect the tourism to Del Mar. Since digging holes is one of the most common beach activities, it could deter lots of people from coming to Del Mar Beach.
