I-5 Re-opens After Long Closure

The Northern section of the I-5 was closed due to police activity. The closure began around 11:30am Friday 12/5/25. The cause was 30–40-year-old man who was threatening to jump off an overpass near Del Mar. This closure caused major traffic backups across North County and made commutes much longer. The traffic also got worse due to rush hour. As of 8:20PM, the man has been taken off the bridge and Southbound as well as Northbound lanes have been re-opened.
